Gossip Girl is an American TV teen drama show which has been based on a series of extremely popular books with the same name. Set in New York City the story deals with the lives of teenagers from a privileged background living in the Upper East Side.
The Gossip Girl TV Series begins with the return of Serena, played by Blake Lively, from an undisclosed stay at a boarding school out of state. Serena is an old best friend of one of the main characters Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, and arrives back in town just as Blair’s life is starting to fall apart. Everyone starts to realise that Blair isn’t leading the perfect life that everyone thought she was. Will the false facade reveal that the rich deal with the same problems that the poor do or possibly even have more problems to deal with.
Currently running into its fourth season, has been showing since 2007 and with a talented cast including Blake Lively, star of the upcoming Green Lantern movie, Leighton Meester who has been in shows such as 24, Surface, House and Entourage. These two talented actresses are supported by Chace Crawford who has acted in Family Guy, Robot Chicken and The Covenant. Originally receiving mixed reviews due to it being an adaption of a New York Times bestselling novel, the show has since been listed as one of the most appreciated shows of 2007. While the show has been running over the past four years it has won numerous awards including the Young Hollywood Award, Teen Choice Award and a nomination for the People’s Choice Award.
The Gossip Girl Series which isabout the lives of young teenagers dealing with relationships amongst the upper classes provides an a great reason to tune in each week to see what’s happening. The premier hit a high of 3.5 million viewers in the United States and since then has gone on to create four season of riveting storyline. Even though there has been a slight decline in popularity this year there are still no indications that you won’t seeing a fifth season next year. If you haven’t seen the previous seasons and want to catch up then your in luck, all three seasons are easily available on DVD.
